Force for good

British Military Fitness South Africa is a small South African owned and run company. We are conscious of our environmental impact, hence the fact that we train outdoors. We value the open and green spaces of our cities and do our best to to help sustain, maintain and improve them.

We are committed to having a positive impact on the communities around us. We promote supporting small and local business and have been involved with a number of charity projects. We support both environmental and community charities and hope that through our efforts we can improve the lives of others and also motivate others to act in a positive and proactive manner, which can only benefit everyone.

BMF have had a number of charity fund raiser events and have donated money to the following causes:

The Thusani Children’s Foundation

http://www.thusanani.org.za/

This is a small charity that works at grassroots level in South Africa. It was founded in 2002 with the aim to help babies and young children who have been orphaned through HIV/Aids or abandonment.

This is so vital in a country where AIDS is such a massive problem. Communities struggle to face, discuss and deal with the stigmas attached and Thusani does a brave and wonderful job.

Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds SANCCOB

http://www.sanccob.co.za

This internationally recognised charity helps look after and rehabilitate coastal birds.

They are especially important in looking after the African penguin as the number of breeding pairs of African penguins has dropped alarmingly. Click here to see a graphic representation.

The Kitty and Puppy Haven in Johannesburg

http://www.kittypuppyhaven.org.za

This charity helps the ever growing number of abandoned, abused and neglected dogs and cats in Johannesburg,. They do a fantastic job helping these animals, but also by providing sterilisation projects and importantly educating communities.

If these communities recognise the worth of animals, they will hopefully transfer those values and help uplift themselves.

BMF has also done outreach programs helping  young offenders in Pollsmoor Prison. Our approach was to offer these youngsters, that have been marginalised by society due to crime, the chance to attend fitness classes in reward for good behavior. Our rationale was that if we could instill more self worth, discipline and pride in themselves, this would help them choose a better future for themselves. Many of them struggle with addiction, hence their involvement in crime. Fitness and health gives them an alternative. Even if only 1 kid has improved himself, then we have made a difference.

Please let us know if you would like to help or have a charity and would like us to help. We try our best, but can obviously not help everyone as we have finite resources. Please email [email protected]
